But somehow I find when the waves swamp the boat,

It takes some believing to keep things afloat.
需要好多信纔能夠不沉埋。

I’ll stand to the end, I have heard people say,
我常聽人說，“我堅持直到底，
I’ll fight till I die, and I’ll ne’er run away;
我要盡忠心至死地不逃避。”
But when the temptations so fiercely assailed,
但當大試探兇狠地臨到時，
They left off believing, and terribly failed.
他就失信心，所有的都喪失。

And others there are full of courage and zeal,
還有一些人富勇敢與熱心，
Who go to the battle like warriors of steel;
他們事奉主就好像鋼鐵人，
But right in the heat of the conflict with sin,
但是與罪惡相搏鬥激烈時，
Instead of believing, they faint and give in.
他們失信心只因為怕損失。

Oh, let us remember, in running our race,

That faith is not feeling, and trust is not trace;

And when all is seeming as black as the night,
